SUMMARY:Su Morin Food Justice Scholarship (Deadline: Dec 15\, 2023)
DESCRIPTION:Su Morin Food Justice Scholarship\n\nSu Morin was a fearless fi
 ghter for food justice. No battle was too small\, and every pollinator pla
 nt and every heirloom vegetable counted on the journey to better food and 
 better communities. Her boundless knowledge and generous sharing of seeds 
 and seedlings leave a legacy in many gardens throughout Ontario and Nova S
 cotia. This legacy is extended through the many students who had Su as a m
 entor and who absorbed her contagious love for seeds and nature. Her past 
 work with the Canadian Organic Growers and Seeds of Diversity made her kno
 wn in food justice circles across Canada. Su also worked with the Ecology 
 Action Centre in Nova Scotia where she further influenced colleagues and s
 tudents with her passion for community gardens\, seed saving\, and communi
 ty food security.\n\nIn the spirit of Su\, a $500 travel and research scho
 larship is being offered to fourth-year undergraduate and graduate student
 s at Canadian institutions\, for research and/or travel expenses. \n\nTo a
 pply for this award\, please submit a 250-300 word essay describing how yo
 u position yourself as a researcher\, how you will use the funding\, and h
 ow this work contributes to food justice. \n\nPlease send your submission 
 to Irena Knezevic at: Irena.Knezevic@carleton.ca and be sure to include 
 ‘Su Morin Food Justice Scholarship’ in the subject line.\n\nApplicatio
 ns will be accepted until December 15\, 2023 with a decision by mid-Januar
 y 2024. Please do not submit multiple applications. \n\nApplicants from pr
 evious years are allowed to apply again.\n\n Since 2019\, this scholarshi
 p has been supported by the Laurier Centre for Sustainable Food Systems an
 d the Food and Media Hub at Carleton University.
