DESCRIPTION:While it will be a few more weeks before new life comes to the 
 fields\, the winter season is a fertile time for moments of exchange and c
 ollaboration between and across farming communities. We’re delighted to 
 welcome two of our partners for a conversation about working towards food 
 sovereignty and the importance of solidarity networks across communities.\
 n\nRae Skye Katsi’tsaronkwas Brooke Rice is one of the stewards of the
  Tka:nios project\, bringing together intergenerational knowledge of foo
 d foraging\, growing\, harvesting and hunting to nourish the Kahnawake com
 munity’s connections with traditional foodways. In collaboration with co
 mmunity members and with the support of partners at Concordia\, Brooke hop
 es to grow the Tka:nios project into a vibrant community food hub that wil
 l serve her community for many generations to come.\n\nHamidou Maïga lau
 nched Hamidou Horticulture to expand the production and sale of ethnic a
 nd heirloom vegetables in the Montreal region. He also offers education pr
 ograms for Afro-descendent families to access agricultural training opport
 unities. Hamidou’s efforts to cultivate relationships and connections ac
 ross agriculture communities has led to the creation of Okra: Agricultures
  Marginales\, an organization that aims to strengthen the ties between imm
 igrant communities\, the lands to which they have been displaced and the o
 riginal peoples of those lands.\n\nRegister here or drop by if you are on
